I miss teaching my kids in the classroom! So going LIVE online had to be done!
I am excited to offer private Spring and Summer Sessions for 2 of my 7 cutting edge music and tech online courses.
Current students, past students, and students around the world are strongly encouraged to sign up.
My course requires no parental guidance. I offer 1 hour of fully contained face to face songwriting and recording sessions.

VIRTUAL HIP HOP SONGWRITING AND RECORDING CLASS

Students experience the excitement of recording and hearing their voices mixed and mastered on professional equipment

A collaborative Hip Hop songwriting and recording class.

$20 per class. 4 days per week, 4 weeks, 16 sessions
$320 full course fee
Working through live virtual classroom sessions, a group of 10 students learn the ins and outs of collaborative songwriting and recording of a structured group Hip Hop song.
Students will learn how to use FREE AVID Pro Tools audio recording software at home to record their voices on a collaborative class song. AVID Pro Tools software is compatible with a Mac or PC. Students can record vocals by rapping / singing directly into the computer.
Students choose to rap, sing the chorus, or “ghost write” (play a role in writing but not recording or appearing on the song)
Students receive a professionally mixed and mastered MP3 of the song. They are guided by an established Billboard Charts and Rolling Stone Magazine featured artist known to us as Mr. Marc.
Mr. Marc will conduct an initial 10 minute interview to determine eligibility. Students receive official Raise The Bar acceptance letters.

Dance Advance Online: Grades Pre-k - 1st Grade
A healthy, high energy, learn-through-dance, educational dance party
Let it all out in this high energy “learn-through-dance” educational program where a renowned MC fully engages and guides children through creative exercise and learning while having dance party fun. Exciting break out dance party activities like "Time Machine" and "Speed Dance" incorporate creative expression, math, history, and language skills. The program covers a broad spectrum of age groups, with advanced curricula offered for higher grades. Dance Advance is the future of learning through stimulating fun activity.

Audio Puppetry
Design and create a personality for your very own puppet, then bring that puppet to life by recording voice overs for an end of year performance!
An experienced live performance instructor and audio engineer walks students through the process of designing their very own personalized puppet, and then records puppet voiceovers performed by the students using industry standard professional music equipment.
Students then prepare for a one of a kind, end of year puppet / voice over performance! It's like a real life Pinocchio story!
Video Production: Shooting and editing: Grades 3-5 - Learn how to shoot video using a smartphone, edit a full length video, and score music using royalty free licensed music.
Audio Engineering Grades 4+5 - Learn the technical aspects of recording and mixing a professional song. Using free software, student will be ready to record anywhere on their own by the end of this course.
Beat Making: Grades 3-5 - Learn how to produce hip hop and pop music beats.
Smartphone Photography and Visual Storytelling: Grades 3+ - Learn the ins and outs of taking engaging photography, editing high quality photos with different apps, and writing a story line to your photos.
Marc Herstein, Park Slope Brooklynite, educator, entertainer and father, has a gift in fully engaging children and retaining their ongoing participation. Marc brings over 20 years of live performance, songwriting, beat production, video production, event production and audio engineering experience to a wide array of programming for pre-k through middle school aged children.
Marc began producing hip hop music in the late 90’s and was featured on the world renowned Lyricist Lounge albums. He has released records that have hit the billboard charts and have been recognized and quoted in Rolling Stone Magazine. Marc diversified his portfolio and began hosting highly successful children's dance parties as the resident MC and premier event host for the world renowned, family dance craze, Baby Loves Disco. To date, marc has toured over 50 cities hosting family dance parties for multigenerational audiencess
Marc now has built upon his accomplishments by developing unique, cutting edge educational programming that seamlessly support the identity of a school.
Outside of his entertainment and education experience, Marc has worked for three major nonprofit organizations in NYC and has led marketing, events and volunteer departments for the past 14 years. His own early education includes District 15's PS. 230 and MS 51, as well as Laguardia High School of the Performing Arts as a vocal major. Marc is known for his high energy and integrity, he is a champion of children and their learning in fun environments.
